Generally speaking, the production process of connectors is divided into four parts: stamping, electroplating, injection molding and assembly:
1. Stamping:The manufacturing process of an electronic connector generally begins with stamping pins. Electronic connectors (pins) are stamped from thin metal strips by large high-speed stamping machines. One end of the large coil of metal belt is sent to the front end of the press, and the other end is wound into the take-up pulley through the hydraulic workbench of the press, and the metal belt is pulled out from the take-up pulley and rolled to punch the finished product.
2. Electroplating:The connector pins shall be sent to the electroplating section after stamping. At this stage, the electronic contact surface of the connector will be coated with various metal coatings.


3. Injection molding:The plastic box seat of the electronic connector is made in the injection molding stage. The usual process is to inject the molten plastic into the metal matrix and then rapidly cool it to form. The so-called "leakage" occurs when the molten plastic fails to completely fill the film. This is a typical defect that needs to be detected at the injection stage. Other defects include the filling or partial blockage of the connector sockets ,these connector sockets must be kept clean and unblocked so that they can be properly connected with the pins during the final assembly.Since the use of backlight can easily identify the leakage of the box seat and the blockage of the connecting jack, the machine vision system used for the quality inspection after the injection molding is relatively simple and easy.
4. Assemble:The final stage of electronic connector manufacturing is finished product assembly. There are two ways to connect the plated pins with the injection box base: single pair or combined pair. Separate mating refers to inserting one pin at a time, The combined mating is to connect multiple pins with the box base at the same time. No matter what kind of plug-in mode is adopted, the manufacturer requires that all the pins be inspected at the assembly stage to see if there is any leakage and the positioning is correct; Another kind of routine inspection task is related to the measurement of the spacing on the mating surface of the connector.
